PLAYLIST #2

playlist #2: for train rides on grey days, via au pays des merveilles

This is what I love to listen to when I’m on the train, staring out the window at rainy Belgium, something that happens quite regularly lately.  Fall has kicked in and I seem to spend my days going back and forth between Antwerp (home), Brussels (to build my own furniture and see King Krule and the ever amazing James Blake), Ghent (for Gent Film Fest and a coffee with the lovely Laura Pauline K.) and Leuven (to catch up with old friends and enjoy new Existenz events).  Wandering the both unknown and familiar streets of these cities  cities becomes even better with these wonderful tracks in my ears.

James Blake – Retrogade

Jai Paul – Jasmin

Sohn – Lessons

YellowStraps x Moodprint – Landscapes

Four Tet – Lion (Jamie XX Remix)

Fybe:one – Back Stab ft. Jasper Eeriness

IAMNOBODI – Maputo Dance

Boom Clap Bachelors – Løb Stop Stå

Ta-Ku – Mahal ft. Chet Faker

Toro Y Moi – Rose Quartz

FRIS – One for duke (FYI: FRIS is also the guy responsible for the making off video of Hatching, an installation I photographed)

PLAYLIST: long summer nights

playlist: long summer nights via au pays des merveilles

Long overdue, but here it finally is: my first playlist on the blog.  Just in time for those last weeks of summer, because this is what I want to hear when it’s getting dark outside but it’s still hot and I’m sitting outside with your friends, discussing life over a glass of wine.  I wish summer would never end.

LIFE BACK IN BELGIUM

au pays des merveilles

Unfortunately, it’s that time of the year again: the exams are coming up, so us students are locked up behind our books and not allowed to think about anything else, like… let’s say blogging.  Which means it’s probably going to be (even more) quiet here in the next few weeks, especially since these are the last photos I saved up to share with you.  Today I’m sharing a little bit of randomness: my favourite boots on the grass during that first day of spring back in march, some impressions of Antwerp during a school trip (luckily on one of those other rare spring days), the view on Leuven from the top of this year‘s Existenz location and Portico Quartet in the AB, one of the few concerts I’ve done since I got back (I’m saving up to go back to Lisbon!) but definitely one worth remembering.  There were very few tickets sold, resulting in a very intimate concert in the AB club covered in twinkling lights and a little talk with the super friendly band afterwards.  I’m ending this with ‘Ruins’ by Portico Quartet, because even though I loved how intimate the concert was, they deserve a much bigger audience!

VEGGIE MUSIC

PLASTER WOLF

My friends have started a new band called Plaster Wolf and they’ve blown me away.  Even if I didn’t know these guys, I still would want to share their music with you.  They are currently touring through Germany and Switzerland, and that’s when these videos where made.  (Two thumbs up for Imachinerie -‘a collective that is dedicated to the support of musicians, artists, poets and all other kind of creative people‘- as they  make beautiful movies!)  Take a look, you won’t be disappointed!
